About The Chosen
I’m Dallas Jenkins, director of The Chosen. If you haven’t watched it yet, please take a look first and then come back and read this.
I've got some really cool news for you. My original idea in making The Chosen was simply to create a short film about the birth of Christ in a fresh way. As I shared it with friends, ministry leaders, and entertainment professionals, I kept getting the same response: "I want more."
As a result, we decided to make an entire TV show about the life of Christ through the eyes of those who encountered him called The Chosen. And when I say "we," I mean we literally, because you can be a part of this unprecedented project.
"The Chosen series offers us the promise of watching the life of Jesus from a whole new perspective. I was so profoundly moved by the pilot, I can’t wait for your family to experience and be changed by it."
Why a Streaming Series About Jesus?
I've been making movies for some of the biggest studios in Hollywood for 20 years. But something like you just saw (if you followed my instruction above to check out The Chosen) shouldn't be entrusted to Hollywood. It needs to be made by us.
Believe it or not, there's never been a TV show, complete with multiple episodes and seasons about the life of Jesus.
The most important message in the world deserves the most influential medium in the world, so we're telling the greatest story ever told in The Chosen.

The Challenge
Doing this requires money. A quality television series like this can cost millions of dollars, the kind of money only Hollywood studios have traditionally. But do we really want to put the greatest story ever told in their hands?
Think of recent Hollywood bible projects: Noah, or Exodus, anyone?

Making Our Own Rules
Unlike other crowd-funding opportunities where you get a T-shirt, you're not donating to this project. You're INVESTING. That means if this show succeeds in earning enough revenue, you may earn a share of the profits.

Dallas Jenkins
Director Dallas Jenkins has worked in Hollywood for nearly two decades, creating films for Warner Brothers, Lionsgate, Hallmark Channel, PureFlix, and Universal. The son of celebrated Christian author Jerry B. Jenkins (The Left Behind series, The Jesus Chronicles series), his passion for sharing unique, inspiring, and unexpected stories of faith has delighted audiences around the world. After creating feature films such as Midnight Clear and What If…, the Hallmark movie Though None Go With Me, and the recent theatrical release The Resurrection of Gavin Stone, Jenkins is eager to launch what he considers his “life’s work,” a TV show about the life of Jesus. The first four episodes are already completed and available!

Matthew Faraci
Matthew Faraci—host and executive producer of the faith-inspired series Frankly Faraci on Dove Channel—has promoted some of the most consequential faith projects in recent times, including God's Not Dead, Miracles From Heaven, Risen, Heaven is for Real, and Unbroken. An experienced marketing and publicity strategist who has also been producing projects for two decades, Faraci got his start on the legendary NBC talk show The McLaughlin Group, and went on to win numerous awards for series and documentaries he created for PBS. He is executive producer of The Chosen and also an executive producer on the upcoming action-fantasy adventure Heavenquest: A Pilgrim’s Progress.

Biblical Accuracy
We’re going to do this right. The Bible itself is divisive enough, we don’t need to create unnecessary controversy by messing with the truth (or the Truth). To that end, we are enlisting the resources of some of the top Biblical scholars (believers, mind you) to ensure two things: one, that this show accurately captures Scripture and the events surrounding it; and two, that we enhance the impact of the story with facts and meaning that you might not be aware of. We’ll also provide materials that you can use and share to get a fuller understanding of the gospel.
Here’s an example from Rabbi Jason Sobel, one of the leading Messianic rabbis on the historicity of the Bible and the life of Jesus. Watch these two minutes on the significance of “swaddling clothes” in the birth of Christ as portrayed in the pilot episode of The Chosen.

The Chosen will be available and translated into at least 4 languages (English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French). We will add others as we grow.
FAQ
One of the reasons we are opening another round of investment is because our first round was never approved by the state of Washington. This round is a different type of offering that doesn't require state approval, so those investors who tried, but were ultimately rejected, now will have a chance to invest in The Chosen. Another reason is because we are already in production for episodes 5-8 of Season 1 and we need these funds to finalize that production. We want everyone who would like to be able to invest to have the opportunity to do so.
Yes! There are a few restrictions in this type of offering, but most people are allowed to invest.
The first four episodes are available now at TheChosen.TV and we are currently producing the next four episodes.
You can watch the show via streaming or DVD/blu-ray at TheChosen.TV. We are also expecting to get international distribution deals (none have been signed yet).
Yes. As an owner of The Chosen, you would be entitled to your share of profits. The management of The Chosen determines this distribution. As a Series A Preferred Unit holder, you would earn up to 120% of your initial investment before the founders of The Chosen take any profit. So you get paid only when The Chosen earns a profit.
The money invested this round will go towards our production costs to complete Episodes 5-8.
Shows and films generate income from distribution, whether it’s from customers of streaming sites, theatrical ticket sales, DVD rentals and sales, fees from TV stations, and international distributors purchasing the rights. The Chosen is currently distributed in the following ways: In North America, through VidAngel’s streaming service, on DVD and through publishing The Chosen books and devotionals. Down the road it will potentially be distributed on television, and overseas in all countries through multiple channels.

No. Although no law limits the minimum amount of money you can invest as an individual, transaction costs related to the purchase of the units, and ongoing maintenance make accepting investments less than $100 unreasonable.
Our ability to offer our units to the public is possible due to recent legislation known as the Jobs Act. This same law limits the amount that investors can purchase based on your annual revenue and net worth.
As part of Regulation CF, we are required to file annual reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission. We will also send out regular investor updates via email to let you know all the latest news of the company.
No. The Chosen is a legal entity that is a separate and distinct company from VidAngel, Inc. Investments made are in The Chosen, LLC not VidAngel, Inc.
The judgement against VidAngel in its lawsuit could affect the method of distribution of the project but it will not prevent the distribution of The Chosen. If VidAngel cannot distribute, The Chosen could distribute through other channels.
“The Chosen” is the first multi-season show about the life of Christ, which means it’s not a stand-alone movie or a single-season mini-series. It’s also not a documentary. Think of shows like Stranger Things, This Is Us, Breaking Bad*, etc., but with a lot of Jesus and without inappropriate content, and that’s the idea.

Every person involved in the core team creating this series is a believer in Christ and is committed to biblical and historical accuracy. We also have a team of Bible-believing historical experts consulting on the project. Additionally, this will be distributed by VidAngel, a faith and family-friendly streaming service excited about the message of the series.
Several have asked about which “translation” of the Bible we’ll be using, and if we’ll be referring to Christ as “Jesus” or “Yeshua.” We will not be using any one translation exclusively; and we will primarily use the English version of the Greek translation of the New Testament, so all of the characters’ names will be English, including Jesus. “Jesus” and “Yeshua” both mean “God saves,” or “rescue,” so same man, same meaning, same Messiah.
